NEW SUMMER HOURS
The summer is typically a slow time for yarn stores. Our winter visitors have gone and permanent residents escape the city every chance they get! Even so, yarn addicts need their fix of yarn and we will be here to fill your knitting and crochet needs. Having said that, we are going to be adjusting our hours for the slower summer months. Make a note:
STARTING MAY 4, 2009
CLOSED SUNDAY AND MONDAY
TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY
OPEN
10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
SUMMER CLASS SCHEDULE
Our summer class schedule has been printed and available at the store. You can download the PDF file - look at the sidebar and click on Summer Class Schedule.
We will be offering the usual Beginning Knitting and a new Knitting Refresher for those who have knit in the past and would like to pick it up again. Mary will not be offering her popular Intermediate Class in its usual 4 week format. This summer she has broken the class into several 1 and 2 hour workshops such as Finishing Workshop, Kitchner Stitch, Learn to Knit Cables, Finishing and Fixing Mistakes.
Lace knitting has become very popular again and Mary and CJ are offering two lace classes. Mary attended a workshop with Amy Singer, author of "No Sheep For You", and learned how to do the Tuscany Shawl that is featured in the book. This is a terrific shawl for both the new lace knitter and anyone allergic to wool as it is made with silk, cotton or a blend. The shawl is on display at the store.
CJ will be teaching the Undulating Waves Scarf. Again, this lace class will be aimed at the new lace knitter and features a very simple lace repeat. You will learn how to read a basic chart and use yarn overs and knit two togethers to create this lovely pattern. The scarf is on display at the store.
Sock knitters will be able to learn how to knit socks on two circular needles or take a class on how to knit a baby sock in 4 hours using double pointed needles - or, do both!
Chris will offer two classes this summer. The first one is making knitted or crocheted jewlery chains and the other is crocheting a shopping bag out of left over recycled bags. Both classes will be fun and informative.
Claudette will over her popular Beginning Crochet class again and this summer will be teaching you how to crochet a cute poncho.
Finally, every Friday afternoon, Mary, CJ and Kathy will be available during Friday Afternoon Drop In. New this summer we are offering a drop in session where you will be able to sit and knit, meet new friends and get problems resolved. Be sure to join us.
Indian School Road Construction
Beginning roughly April 20, Indian School Road, West of Hayden to Drinkwater Blvd. will be under construction. The City will be beginning with the North side of the street closing two lanes and diverting all traffic to the two lanes on our side of the street. Later that process will reverse. You will still have access to the store from Indian School Road or 78th street (the street immediately to the East of the store). If you turn south on 78th street take the first left into the laneway behind the store. The covered parking lot to the west of the store can be accessed from the laneway. Parking will still be available in our lot, along 78th street and the access road in front of the store (as long as construction allows).
We apologize for the inconvenience this construction will cause our customers and hope that it will not result in a decision not to visit the store. We will do our best to keep you updated via the blog and will have business access and store signs posted in as many locations as possible to make your access as painless as possible. Thank you for understanding and for your continued support.
